Cathodic protection – corrosion prevention of steel in concrete
10.11.2020
In October 2019, the first in Poland, our joint with ZUSiM and Metalnastri implementation of galvanic cathodic protection took place. The long road of preparations, presentations, talks and negotiations ended with the assembly of 210 SuperAnod GSCslk units before the winter season.
It was supervised directly by two engineers on behalf of the manufacturer, who willingly shared their knowledge and experience while running the project exactly according to the adopted guidelines.
The photo shows a grid of anodes mounted directly to the reinforcement, which was previously completely exposed, supplemented and cleaned. Then, after the assembly of the GSCslk anodes, they were carefully covered with the outer layer of concrete by shotcreting, ensuring that the resulting galvanic cell – the essence of this cathodic protection method – can operate. A box was also installed and connected, enabling the verification of the installation status at any time.
Ultimately, the investor will enjoy effective protection against corrosion for at least 20 years.
